When we work together, we're unstoppable.
That's the message being heard in Washington this week as more and more Senators sign on to our campaign calling for passing a public option using "reconciliation", which would keep Republicans from using a procedural trick in the Senate called the filibuster to block a majority vote.
The momentum keeps building, with 19 Senators, 119 House Democrats, and over 300,000 Americans signed on to endorse this strategy as the way forward for healthcare reform.
It's been a long haul since we stood up together to draw a line in the sand for the inclusion of the choice of a public option like Medicare in healthcare reform over 11 months ago. The fight's been filled with ups and downs, but you've stuck with it every step of the way. And now... we're back on offense with the momentum on our side.
But the fight isn't over yet. We will keep up the pressure with ads, polling, calls, and deliveries. DFA isn't pulling any punches and we're not giving up -- until we win. Next week will be critical. If we get 1,000 members to donate $100 each by Monday morning, we'll be able to hit the ground running and get the job done.
Next week may be the most important week of our campaign yet. The White House has called for a bipartisan summit on healthcare for Wednesday. Many Republican leaders see this as their biggest opening yet to finally kill any chance at real reform.
It's up to us to make sure that can't happen.
We will pass real reform as long as we don't give up. I will continue to give this fight everything I've got and I know you stand with me. Please contribute what you can today.
1,000 DONORS AT $100 EACH WILL FUEL OUR CAMPAIGN FOR REAL REFORM
Momentum is on our side. It's up to us to keep up the pressure it will take to get the job done.
Thank you for everything you do,
-Howard
