Changing history: South Bend woman was turned away from pool over 70 years ago

SOUTH BEND — Images of the Civil Rights struggle often include Dr. Martin Luther King Junior, marches, sit-ins and the Klan. But there was a struggle going on right here in South Bend. A popular swimming pool was off-limits to blacks for years, but now it's a museum to honor those who worked to change our way of thinking.
